Food Labeling Specialist

Department: Regulatory & Labeling
Location: Paramus, NJ

Summary/Objective:

GGG is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Food Labeling professional to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for meeting project timelines/deadlines from concept through final package development while ensuring compliance with US food packaging labeling requirements.

This role is temporary but may transition to a permanent placement.This hybrid role is currently based in Paramus, NJ. Our company will be relocating to a new corporate headquarters in Madison, NJ in Q4 of 2026. Candidates should be comfortable with this upcoming change in location.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Handle multiple food label and packaging projects simultaneously, working cross-functionally and executing responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Develop, review, and approve product labels, packaging artwork, and related materials to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proof packaging artwork for accuracy at each stage of the design and production process (e.g., initial graphics review, printing, final production).
  • Verify ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutrition facts panels, claims, certifications, and other required label information.
  • Update the nutritional database and ingredient specification information using Genesis R&D software.
  • Conduct finished product packaging audits against ingredient specifications and approved label files.
  • Clarify required revisions with global suppliers and ensure timely follow-up through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain and update workflow/project management systems for label reviews, product approvals, and required sign-off processes.
  • Maintain an organized system or database of final packaging/label files along with supporting compliance documentation.
  • Monitor and interpret current U.S. food labeling and regulatory requirements, communicating updates to internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in food labeling, food regulatory compliance, or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of USDA & FDA labeling regulations and nutrition labeling requirements
  • Experience with ingredient declarations, allergen labeling, and food claims substantiation
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; Genesis R&D software is a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent proofreading/editing skills
  • Possess successful organizational, analytical and time-management skills

Salary Range: $56,000 - $84,000 annually; Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
